Angelina Jolie Says New Orleans Represents The Many Cultures Of Her Family

Posted By LolaDub on Dec 9, 2008 at 7:07AM

New Orleans is the one place that most feels like home for Angelina Jolie. The actress says it represents her culturally diverse family and allows for a much more normal life than LA.

Her kids even enjoy spending time down there, especially the food!

"Our kids love it here. They love the school and their friends here. Most of all they love Verti Marte (a diner in the French Quarter). Their favorite thing to do is go down there. But for all of us, we just come here and we feel at home.

"This is the place we feel combines all the culture we love. It’s a melding of my French heritage with Brad’s Americana. The kids just love the food at the moment but they’re absorbing years of tradition through that."

Have you visited New Orleans? I went during college to check out Mardi Gras. I don't drink, so hanging out on that street wasn't really my cup of tea. So, while all my friends were partying until the wee hours of the morning, I was doing day tours with my best friend. It is such a magical place. So much history!

Rep: "Not True" Angelina Jolie Is Pregnant

Posted By LolaDub on Nov 26, 2008 at 8:59AM

Call off the bump watch: Angelina Jolie is not pregnant.

Reports that the 33-year-old is expecting are "not true," her rep, Geyer Kosinski, tells Usmagazine.com exclusively. The actress is scheduled to start shooting Edwin A. Salt in February, in an action role as a CIA agent.

Remember what Angelina looked like pregnant?

Rumors have persistently spread. Most recently, In Touch claims Jolie announced she was pregnant in a London restaurant when a waiter tried to pour her a drink. The magazine says beau Brad Pitt was annoyed because he wasn't ready to go public with the news.

In Touch also reports Jolie pushed forward filming of Edwin A. Salt so her bump wouldn't be visible - but on-set sources confirm to Us the schedule has not been changed.

Life & Style questioned if the actress was "three months along" on a "Baby News" cover.

This doesn't mean Jolie and Pitt aren't ruling out more kids in the future.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired last week, Pitt, 44, said they'd "probably" add to their family of six. (They are already parents to Maddox, 7, Pax, 5, Zahara, 3, Shiloh, 2, and twins Knox and Viv, 4 months.)

"It's the greatest endeavor I've ever taken on," he said. "Why stop now?"

Aaron Eckhart: Angelina Would Make a "Fantastic" Catwoman

Posted By LolaDub on Nov 20, 2008 at 6:28AM

The Dark Knight's Aaron Eckhart thinks Angelina Jolie would make a purr-fect Catwoman -- if there's another Batman installment.

"I thought that was a fantastic idea," Eckhart told Usmagazine.com at the GQ Men of the Year party in L.A. on Nov. 18. "When I read that, I felt like all of our records that we made [would] be broken if she did Catwoman."

Look back at Angelina Jolie's famous on-screen roles.

(Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in the original Batman TV series, recently told New York's Daily News that she has knowledge that Jolie has inquired about playing the part.)

Another name that's been thrown around? Johnny Depp -- as the Riddler.

"Every time I hear these guys, I feel worse about myself!" Eckhart joked.

He was mum when asked if he'd star in another Batman flick.

"I mean, that's an interesting question," he told Us. "You know, I don't think I will. I think I died in the movie."

But it all remains a mystery.

Angelina Jolie: I'm Ready to "Fade Away"

Posted By LolaDub on Nov 13, 2008 at 11:52AM

Angelina Jolie says she plans to give up acting to be a full-time mother.

"I don't plan to keep acting very long. I'm ready to do a few things now and fade away and get ready to be a grandma one day," she tells BBC News in a new interview. "I'm not so worried that I want to keep this pace up and try to be something and be a celebrity."

Look back at photos of Angelina Jolie on the red carpet.

She says she's lucky to take on great roles but "everything comes in seasons.

"I hopefully won't be needing to do that later in my life anyway," she adds.

The 33-year-old Changeling star -- who says she won't work for a year after she returns to work in February -- stresses, "I don't think I'll ever say I'm never, ever gonna work because maybe there's that interesting project where I feel creative.

What are Angelina Jolie's most famous on-screen roles?

"I like being home a lot," the mother of six adds. "First and foremost, I have a lot of children, and I need to make sure they're growing right and they've got us there for them."

Angelina Jolie: I'm a Jet-Lagged Mom!

Posted By LolaDub on Nov 12, 2008 at 6:08AM

Angelina Jolie can seem like a superwoman – dashing around the globe with her impossibly cute kids (not to mention Brad Pitt!) in tow.

But some feats – like her recent humanitarian trip to Afghanistan followed, just days later, by a high-profile awards show appearance – can exhaust even her.

"I woke up at 3 in the morning with four kids with jet lag and two babies," a weary Jolie, 33, told the Los Angeles Times recently, hours before she presented an award to Clint Eastwood. "I put myself together for a few hours and go out. And then I go home. This is my job."

Still, she shows no signs of settling down in Hollywood. "I don't dislike it here," the Oscar-winner told the newspaper. "I just really do love to travel. I love other cultures. And I love raising my kids in the world. I'm so fortunate that I get to do that."

The actress also opened up about her emotionally wrenching performance as a mother in The Changeling – a role, she thinks, that helped her get pregnant with twins Knox and Vivienne.

"I got pregnant right in the middle of [filming] and I think partially because of it," she explained. "I was so emotional about children that I think something in me kicked into gear"

Angelina: Twins' Personalities Are Starting to 'Shine'

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's twins may be only four months old, but they're already characters of their own.

"They're great. They're still so little, but they do [have their own personalities]," Jolie told reporters at the DVD launch for Kung Fu Panda and the premiere of its companion adventure story, Secrets of the Furious Five in Hollywood on Sunday.

Knox and Vivienne are "starting to get very smiley," their proud mom said. "They're at that [stage] where their personality really starts to shine."

As for the rest of the brood, they share a love of their mom's work. "I think it's a great film, and it's brought a lot of joy to children – and to my children, absolutely," Jolie told PEOPLE at the event. "My kids love it. They're very very proud, they've got mom [Tigress] dolls."

While Jolie – looking slim in a long-sleeved black dress and beige pumps with spiked heels – didn't let on whether she'd be attending any of President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural balls in January, she did say she was happy with the election last Tuesday.

"I was pleased to see how excited so many people were," she told PEOPLE.

At the premiere, held at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, furry Panda characters wandered around and danced while costars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman chatted with fans and press. Jolie and the rest of the cast were on hand also as DreamWorks' Jeffrey Katzenberg presented a check for $1 million to the Conservation International in support of their efforts for the preservation of pandas in their natural habitat.

Jolie told PEOPLE shortly before the presentation, "We are so privileged in everything we get to do in this business, and the amount of money this film has made. To be able to share that and do some good always feels good." http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20239184,00.html

Angelina Jolie's (Surprise!) Tribute to Clint Eastwood

Posted By LolaDub on Oct 28, 2008 at 6:05AM

She may be the most photographed woman in the world. But even Angelina Jolie can fly under the radar.

The actress – who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan – made a surprise appearance at Monday night's Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala, where she payed tribute to director Clint Eastwood.

In fact, Jolie's appearance was so unexpected, the A-list crowd gasped audibly when she was introduced.

The mother-of-six took time out of her busy schedule to present Eastwood – who helmed her most recent move, The Changeling – with the director of the year award.

"There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be," she told the audience. "And Clint Eastwood in person is even better."

"Clint is what every great director should be," she continued. "He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere."

That admiration appears to be mutual.
As he accepted the honor, Eastwood noted, "Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she's a great talent."

The two walked arm-in-arm from the stage. Then Jolie, wearing a floor-sweeping black gown and minimal makeup, slipped out of the event as stealthily as she'd arrived.

Angelina Jolie: Family Is My Top Priority

Posted By LolaDub on Oct 23, 2008 at 5:41AM

Angelina Jolie says that her priorities have changed from career to motherhood since giving birth to twins in July.

"The kids are my priority, so it's possible that from now on I will make fewer movies. I may even stop altogether," Jolie tells the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. "I no longer have the ambition I had in my 20s."

Jolie, 33, who spoke to the magazine while promoting her new movie Changeling, says that as she has had more children, she's come into her own as a mother.

"In reality my life is a lot more chaotic and adventurous now. Brad [Pitt] and I pilot airplanes, we travel non-stop, we go to difficult places and we have chosen to do it taking all of the kids with us," said the mother of six. "I feel a lot braver now than when I was an angry young woman."

Out of Shell
Of her past, she says, "I knew little about the world and I was completely self-absorbed. It was only when I came out of my shell and started taking care of others that I found the real Angelina."

Jolie says her children have inherited her taste for globe-trotting.

"Sure I am still restless, but do you know that my kids are the same way? We were in France these last few months and after a while they started asking when we could get back on a plane."

That curiosity about the world is a value she wants her kids to maintain throughout their lives. "I want them to be able to walk through a marketplace in Adis Ababa and not bat and eye, not think it is dirty and ugly, but that it just represents another part of the world and humanity."

Asked if she plans to make an honest man out of Brad Pitt, the actress hints that they may end up tying the knot – under pressure from the kids.

"Usually people fall in love and everything revolves around the ritual of marriage, children are an afterthought. We did everything backwards," says Jolie.

"But sooner or later it will be the kids who ask us [to get married]. You know, they see films and start asking questions. Such as, 'Why are Shrek and Fiona married and you're not?http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20235115,00.html
